The fifth season of “Last Comic Standing” airs this summer on NBC. The “Last Comic Standing Live Tour” will feature the five finalists from the popular series, including the comic who America selects as the funniest new comedian in the world.  This year, the unscripted talent search broadened its scope by searching internationally for comedians.  Hosted by Bill Bellamy and featuring talent scouts Alonzo Bodden, Ant, and Kathleen Madigan, this season’s casting calls were held in London, Montreal, and Sydney in addition to Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis, San Antonio and Tempe.

NBC has raised the stakes of its Emmy-nominated series by offering a $250,000 cash prize to the winner of the competition.  In addition to the money and the coveted title of “Last Comic Standing,” the winner will also receive an exclusive talent contract with NBC Universal and their own half hour comedy special on Bravo.
